Module 6 Reflection

This module has helped me think about self-directed learners and the role of differentiation in the following ways...

In the past I have always modifed projects for special needs learners but I tend to forget to give them a modified checklist and rubric. Looking back now I think giving them a modified checklist and rubric would have eliminated a lot of confusion on the part of the para's and parents who help them on their projects outside of class.

Module 5 Reflection

This module has helped me think about student-centered assessment in the following ways...

I was happy to find that the examples in the Intel assessments library were very helpful. I was able to easily find a rubric that fit the criteria for my project. I really liked that I didn't have to create a rubric from scratch...big time saver! I also liked that the rubric examples that they provided were very indepth and covered every aspect. I will definitely use the rubric that I exported from the site. Many of the aspects that they chose to grade were things I didn't even think about but are very important .

Module 4 Reflection

How can technology be used most effectively to support and assess student learning?

I like to use technology to further my students knowledge about an idea or topic. The textbook and my own personal knowledge can be very limited. I feel when students research a topic on the internet they can access additional knowledge very quickly and many times they will understand it better because it may be worded better than the textbook.
After their research I like having students create a presentation or publication so that they can show me they understand the material and it gives them a way to sort their thoughts and new knowledge.

Module 3 Reflection

This module has helped me think about the impact of the internet on my student's learning in the following ways...

I am now considering what is legal when I am downloading or taking information from the internet since I would want students to have a good role model so they know what is appropriate to take from the internet and what is not.
I am also now thinking of ways I can have students share work on a project at home so that it can be collaborative without the students having to be sitting next to one another with only one person typing.
I like the idea of having surveys imbedded into my webpage for students to take when they are done completing a project or even before they begin a project to see what prior knowledge they are bringing in.

Module 2 Reflection

This module has helped me think about using standards, CFQs, or formative assessment in the following ways...
---by remembering the importance of reviewing the state standards and aligning my assessments with those standards.
--through understanding the differences between the Essential Question (overall idea) and the Unit Questions.
---through helping me narrow down and define my content questions.
---giving me alternative assessment ideas
